Marson’s review published on Letterboxd:
I was very confused while watching the second half or so of the movie ie after Paul drinks the Water of Life. Up until then I was very interested in how exactly the conflict within the Fremen between the believers and the non believers would play out. Being politically biased, I was rooting for Chani and the Fremen people of course.
After Paul drinks the water of life, the movie takes a huge turn. After that I didn't know what the movie wanted me to think of Paul. Parts of the movie wanted me to be critical of what Paul was doing but also everything Paul does is accompanied by triumphant music and just overall cinematic spectacle. I was also disappointed with the limited role of Chani, just there to scoff and be disappointed by all the actions of Paul. Only a few days after watching the movie do I find out that in the original Dune novels, Chani goes along with whatever Paul Atreides does. That makes a huge difference. The movie does want me to be critical of Paul. Otherwise Chani's character wouldn't be there. The movie literally ends on Chani's angry and disappointed face
Is it too much to ask for the next part being Chani making all the other Fremen realising what Paul is doing with them, hence uniting and rebelling to overthrow Paul Atreides
