Basically Hot Fuzz but serious.

I think I liked the themes this was trying to convey, and it looks really good. A bit too all over the place to really hit me though.

Upon a second viewing, three things stood out to me.

1. Florence Pugh is really good in this movie.
2. John Walker is one of the best recent MCU characters.
3. They really should have kept Taskmaster around. She had too much potential to be offed like that.

I really liked the Cad Bane story all the way through, but the Ventress stuff did not seem worth undercutting Dark Disciple to bring her back.

I liked that this felt like a real movie. It looked good, was well acted, and explored its themes well. However, the pacing of the first half felt off to me, and the ending felt rushed to do a cut to credits after a big reveal, leaving a lot of threads without conclusion.

Also some of this felt like Bucky character assassination to me. Maybe thats too strong a phrase but he didn't always act in line with how his character has been established and I didn't see a good reason why provided in the film.

Mostly very good. That one music scene had my jaw slack. I honestly was more invested before any of the vampire stuff. A good bit of that lost me in the 3rd act. The epilogue was awesome though.

Toward the end of the movie where Smoke is holding a stake over Stack, the lady next to me's phone notification went off and the notification sound was "OH YEAH, VECTOR!" from Despicable Me.

Its got a lot of flaws but I don't really care. Lucas was trying to say something with this shit man.

When that Battle of the Heroes music starts up its a bolt of lightning through my body.

The opening scene in this is incredible.

I watched this but me and the fellas weren't really paying attention so I can't fairly rate it. The parts I was paying attention for I liked.

I truly love the drill hand monster guy.

Harry Belafonte kills it as the Preacher.

Also happy to report my grandma liked the movie!

A very mixed bag. Lots of neat ideas and cool wrinkles but they are all thrown together in a slapdash way that doesn't feel very cohesive. Often scenes and the music would cut abruptly. The human cast in this one also left a lot to be desired. Initally Dr. Shiragami has intrigue and pathos, but he fades into the background as the movie progresses.

The criterion 4k of this looks fantastic though. It really allows the effect work to shine. Im happy to report I now own every live action godzilla on blu ray.

There is some good stuff in here, but there is also way too much going on. Should have probabaly been a limited series. I did like Amuro being based though.

Quess is one of the worst characters I've ever seen.

I want to buy a lot of model kits.

Some good stuff in this but it didn't come together for me.

Serendipitously I just finished The Dark Light Years by Brian Aldiss today, which touched on some of the same ideas as this.

William H. Macy is such a good actor man. In the one scene where Dan asks about Jerry's son, you can see in his eyes that not only did he not think about what to tell him that evening, but also that he never once considered how his cockamamie scheme would affect his son.

The heat burns us all.

This movie looks incredible.

Was not prepared for him to have a gun.

Just absolutely insane detail in every single frame.

Man I don't know.

I didn't think this was terrible. I liked Sam's focus on negotiation. The movie did have a bad habit of re-stating something that had already been said only a minute earlier though.

Credit to the writers, the characters in this are some of the most realistic I've seen in a movie. Drey laying in her mothers lap had my eyes watering a bit.

Some absolutely heartwrenching stuff in this combined with amazing scale in every shot. A very effective cautionary tale and ciritisism of colonialism and messianic figures.

The line about people who tell lies vs. half lies, as well as the one about young men in war vs. old men making peace will stick with me for some time.

For a movie from 1962, I was impressed with its level of tastefulness on the subject matter. Aside from white actors playing some of the arabic characters, it generally did well pointing out the folly of reductive thoughts of arabic people.

I think this film might hold the record for most shots with a camel in it.

Very good looking movie that is also big funny. The anti-Chekhov's gun bit got me good.

Good music and cool visuals. The main guys acting is the most stilted I've ever seen. Bro mumbles every word.

"GARY! THERES A BOMB STRAPPED TO MY CHEST!"

I think this one was even better than the first. The action setpeices were ittedly a step down from previous (still bonkers though), but I liked the plot a lot more. It also had me laughing out loud a bunch.

Exquisite set design, color choice and shot composition in this, not to mention the fits. Took a while for this to start clicking with me though. Once Kenji is introduced the movie picks up steam and brings the theme and character work to the forefront while still keeping the slapdash jumpcutting and confusing spatial orientation befitting the "Drifter" title.

A nice summation of the show as a whole. Very fun!

A really incredible story from history I had never heard of before, told in the worst way possible. Lacks any kind of sublety, momentum, or intrigue. I got more enjoyment and value out of reading the wikipedia article after the movie than anything from its two hour runtime.

The bit with Mary at her sisters got me. I knew this movie was good when my mom had to go use the restroom and asked to pause it rather than say "just leave it running ill be right back."

Kon does it again.

Every few moments this movie hits you with an astoundingly good establishing shot.

Ralph Fiennes is so good at acting even his breathing gave me insight into his character.

Frequently in this Jackie hits some sly move that to any normal person would be an acheivement to look back on and brag about for the rest of their life.

For Jackie, its a Tuesday.

Denzel was having a ball.

The half star off is for Godzilla not doing a ton of combat outside of firing his atomic breath.

Aside from that though, so much fun. I love these little shorts so much.

What an odd dress to wear to your husband's funeral.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Cooper is a bad guy.

Good movie with a very clever ending.

Accidentally picked the perfect time to rewatch this cause im starting a new job in 2 days. I love when the themes of movies line up with your life like that; it made the train scene especially impactful this time around.

On an unrelated note, Lin is hot.

The creature screech sound effect is really well done.

The fight scene choreography in this is immaculate.

Henry Fonda may have very well invented aura. That bit at the start where he walks out into the rain after telling the Clanton family hes the new marshal is perfection.

However, this doesn't come all the way together for me. There are lots of scenes and moments I enjoy but they are put together very loosely with the main revenge/solving the murder plotline feeling forgotten about until the third act. Holiday's character has an interesting premise and I can understand the gist of his struggle, but I would have liked a bit more development on his history and relationship with Clementine. As it stands, the titular character's inclusion feels a bit superfluous.

Those complaints aside, its still an entertaining flick that looks really really good.

This one didn't click for me how the man with no name trilogy movies hit. Great visuals, score, and a solid plot, but I found it hard to care for any of the characters. It was also a bit too meandering for my taste. I did like the use of the railroad signaling the end of the truly wild west though.

The mom was just tweaking cause she wanted her pepperoni pizzas.

A good time with interesting setpieces and lore/creative ideas, despite a few too many contrivances.

Also far too many " this from the other movie" bits in this. Especially deepfake Ian Holm.

Piccalo dragging Vageta around by the hair was funny.

His hat shoulda got bigger when he turned blue.

Some cringe edgy middle schooler humor in this but overall a fun time.
