a bit clunky until we got into the real action but my high expectations were met otherwise

i hope wherever you are david, that you're smoking a whole pack and washing it down with coke and cookies.

after second watch you can see the exact moments where this solidifies it as a horror classic for me, an ode to the occult and mysticism. a call for a return to fear and traditional folk belief. robert eggers i would give u my firstborn.

main complaint is both sides of mahito's head should've been shaved. for symmetry.

surprisingly enjoyed it! never saw the play or read the book before, but the movie is perfect for someone like me or someone who's a die hard fan. ariana shocked me as it was very easy to IGNORE that it's ariana grande! cynthia did drama AMAZING!

slightly let down that this is the end of a trilogy but it's not terrible, just doesn't have the same punch to it that pearl and x do.

better than the first but the ending drags on significantly for what the movie is

nice to see the chronological start to the series but the amount of exposition was honestly exhausting and took up the better half of the movie

gaga had to release an album after this to prove she can still sing

genuinely what is the point of killing off newt RIGHT AFTER alien 2 made her such an important figure?? it serves no plot purpose??? david fincher you owe us an apology.

i forgot how much pure childhood joy watching this movie could bring me. as a person who felt lonely and weird as a kid, this movie used to bring me great comfort and surprise surprise it still does. one of those movies i'll never get sick of seeing :)

there was literally no reason for this movie to sexualize and beautify the main character the way it did. face beat no matter the circumstance, skinny but never starved even though she's surviving off rain water and maybe a fish, fully stripped nude to give birth, nipples HARD always! that being said this could've been cut down at least 30 minutes and been a much better film for it. it felt like it dragged on and on with no good reason to do so

I KNOW Ari Aster didn't intend for this to be a "good for her" story in the end, but part of me will always resonate with Dani and mildly celebrate the downfall of Christian and his friends. Christian is a manipulative dick who can't own up to wanting out of relationship but refuses to do anything about it. His friends are just as bad, if not worse. Mark is a selfish, stereotypical American, vaping dudebro headache who's concerns revolve mainly around himself. Josh is an insensitive academic, which makes him the least hate-able in my opinion. Pelle isn't free of criticism either, he's quietly manipulative no matter how sweetly he does it. Hidden behind the smile and accent he's just as bad as Christian. Dani is really the only one I can empathize with, her family is gone, her boyfriend is emotionally gone, seemingly nobody is there for her. It's completely understandable that she would embrace the Hårga, which is the only community she's able to find that will let her grieve (even if they are doing it just to gain her trust). You feel just as held by the Hårga as Dani does, so its easy to forget that they're just as disinterested in her wellbeing as Christian and his friends are. You want so badly for Dani to get a win in, and the ending almost seems like she does, but she's just as trapped in the end as she is in the beginning.
