Relatively tight first half (give or take a hooker with a heart of gold) makes way for the exact kind of masala slop that I despise, in the second half. And then ends with the typical talking points about a “new” India “jo ghus ke maarega” that was and has been used by all those came in just a year later.

Strangely inert, at least more than I expected. Lots of typical smart writing, but this is fairly well-trod territory (a lot came after this I get it).

I did appreciate the fact that most of his reflections imply he was always who he would turn out to be; films may or may not have had much to do with his state in life.

I too would become a better man if I got free train therapy from Sharmila Tagore.
