Nosferatu

2024

★★★★½ 3

Just as Count Orlok has with his subject…this film had me gripped and did not let me go for the entire runtime.

I don’t understand how a film can be so sensual yet so bloody terrifying and it work SO well. Beautiful camera work (especially in transitional shots), an atmospheric tension that lures in the background at all time and a tragic yet daunting musical score makes this a top tier horror for me.

Literally astounding performances across the board…

First of all, Gillian Anderson spread clotted cream on a scone before Jam (the Devon way) and half of my PACKED screen booed (I watched this in Cornwall) and honestly…that’s the pettiness I aspire to be like.

This was truly heartwarming and inspiring. I really loved the two leads and their connection on screen, properly felt like an old married couple. Didn’t realise this was based on a true story and shows the true grit and determination of human nature.

It was cute, funny at times, loving and an easy watch. Felt very on theme whilst down here in Cornwall.

★★★ Rewatched

The 3rd film in today’s triple bill (they were all on ITV2 one after the next).

Nowhere near as strong as the previous 2 films but still a decent enough time. I seeing this in the cinema when it first came out and really liking it!

Doesn’t hold up as well anymore but still gets a few laughs from me. This film has me convinced that Zac Efron would do a really good job as Hercules if/when Disney decide to do a live action version.

This truly is a big screen picture.

Mr Cruise has done it again and cemented himself as a true Hollywood great with what he brings to the big screen. I saw a lot of talk about pacing issues with the first part of this film and I felt it was unjustified. I feel as if this film jumped right back into the action from Dead Reckoning and got straight back to it. Yes it can feel a little congested and…

Wow.

Probably one of the most INTENSE screenings I have ever been too. The sound design/editing in this film truly is the masterpiece to a very well depicted modern war film. I would even go as far as saying probably the best depiction of modern war that we have seen in the big screen.

This film absolutely suffocates you and confides you to this tight space where we witness this conflict happening and it doesn’t let you breathe for a…
