The thing that really works for me, for the Daimajin movies, is also strangely the thing that holds them back from being truly great. Maybe the best worst movie I've ever seen. So hilariously nonsensical that you don't even need MST3K riffs to make it a worthwhile watching experience. Everyone is a sweaty 70's beefcake or femme fatale, we've got groovy future sound healers, medieval sword fighting, the Bermuda Triangle, a pulsating brain in a jar... The apex of coked-out, spaced-out 70's weirdness.
