Finally watched this cult classic because I saw 👑 Ivan Dixon (star of NOTHING BUT A MAN) directed it. Phenomenal shit!!!!

Seeing this on the big screen magnified every detail of the claustrophobic blocking and gorg wides. Almost cheered for the score every time it swelled. What a picture.

Just an American masterpiece.

Yes, it’s taken me like 6 years to watch this movie, even though I knew for certain I would love it. You just have to be in the right mood for it. And today as Hawaii burns, on Day 100 of the writers strike when I’m home sick in bed with God-Knows-What…. That is the mood to watch this.
