Oh my god that was hard to get through, which is just a compliment to pretty much everything that was going on. I sat through the whole movie thinking, “wow, I want to kill every one of Mabel’s friends and family,” as scenes just never seemed to end. 

Gena Rowlands’ performance is one of this performances where you just sit back in awe in the knowledge you’re witnessing one of the finest performances ever committed to screen. Her ticks, the thumb shoving, the hissing, even they way her hair draped and fell in her contortions was just utterly magnificent.
