The Invisible Man Returns (1940) didn’t go nearly as far as the original movie in of craziness. Sure there were some interesting parts, but having no Claude Rains just acting like a man hurts. Vincent Price plays the titular invisible man in this film but he doesn’t reach the level of Rains. It really shows the difference between a pre-code horror film and a post-code one. This movie doesn’t know if it wanted to be a whodunnit or a horror movie and it comes out being something more like a sci-fi comedy. There was just too much going on and the focus was never on one topic. Sometimes I don’t get how certain endings and parts of movies were okayed back in the day as well. Most of these movies and their subsequent sequels all end the same. This movie ends very similar to the original with the one change that the protagonist lives. Overall, I rate this movie a 7, all I could think about the entire movie was how the guy playing Dr. Griffin looked like Pedro Pascal.
