This was definitely a cinema-going experience that I found enlightening, mostly in of learning that my sense of humour is not really well-aligned with other peoples'. Honestly, I think I would have had a better time with this film had I watched it by myself at home, because then I wouldn't have to deal with a guy bouncing up and down in his seat laughing next to me at jokes that I do find funny, but not that funny.
Don't get me wrong: I really like this film, but I appreciate it far more as a sincere character drama and story of finding joy in life once again, as well as moments of absurdity and black comedy that are tempered to my liking with genuinely heartwarming moments throughout. In fact, I think that's why I found the reaction from my fellow cinema-goers kind of annoying: I just felt the scenes earned some degree of gravitas that they weren't getting from the audience.
In any case, I'd love to check this out again the next time I get the chance, and get all the feels again. I just love how ultimately wholesome this film is.
