★★★★½ Liked Rewatched 02 Jun 2025

Watched for the first time in ~10 years because I visited Rome and the Colosseum last week. It’s still A-tier Dude Cinema.

Everyone gets on this for being an overrated Best Picture winner, but I think Crowe winning Best Actor is more strange in hindsight. Obviously he’s amazing, but it’s mostly typical blockbuster stuff he’s working with. We should have some wins like this every few years. That’s how Cruise finally gets one. Please give him one before he kills himself crashing a motorcycle into a helicopter.

Already one of the most insane films I’ve ever experienced, but the surrealism was only increased by the fact I watched it on a plane. 

Everyone warned me about the monkey doing cocaine. I wasn’t prepared for monkey receiving a handjob.
