I wish I saw it closer to when it came out because I think it was a smidge overhyped. It felt stilted at times, the third act felt like the second act, and the mental health message was not that deep.

That being said, if this is a turning point for Marvel, it’s a good sign!! Much much better than other recent Marvel slop. There are some good fight sequences filmed in interesting ways! I love a rag tag underdog found family! But most importantly, I enjoy hot and funny people being hot and funny.

My 2013 Bucky Barnes crush lives on.

The first hour is a bunch of callback nonsense that they think is fan service but just comes across as not trusting the audience. And the entire plot was simultaneously hand holdy and convoluted??

That being said, the highs are SO DAMN HIGH. Two all-timer stunt sequences that made this a top theatrical experience. Tom Cruise is a real American hero because he risks his life every day to bring us joy. 🫡

Not the letdown people were saying, but also not a complete hit after coming after four absolute bangers.

Mr. Milkshake is a star.

Ryan Gosling’s performance of a lifetime? I think so.

I laughed from beginning to end!! I had an amazing time!! Production design and costumes were everything I could have dreamed!! Being a woman is complicated!! All the actors were superb!!

Some of the invocations of feminist buzzwords and sentiments felt a little hollow at times, but at the same time, I can’t blame a Barbie movie for that. I feel like they did what they could in the context of a commercial industry about a commercial product, which is miraculous, but not earth shattering.
