What if John Wick had less sauce 

Some really cool sequences that stand out (with clear help from Chad Stahelski) but otherwise getting from scene to scene is a TASK. Resident evil 4 village sequence almost had me hype but man it takes the interesting world building of the main franchise and makes it woefully uninteresting. Taking an intriguing world of assassins and turning it into a generic whatever bad guy cult where the vengeance is just a forced happenstance. John Wick 1 wasn’t great but had something that separated itself from the rest and grew into the stylish franchise it is overtime, maybe these spin offs can do the same? Or maybe they’ll just try to recreate the John Wick style with less sauce. Either way it’s still fun tho

My special interest growing up was sharks. I loved them and was absolutely terrified of them at the same time. Mainly terrified due to extremely young nightmares caused by Deep Blue Sea starring LL Cool J. I had science pages ripped from books on my wall, I played terrible video games where I could be a shark like Miami Shark and Hungry Shark; and I watched every shark movie I could find. I loved all the Jaws movies (yes even the god awful ones) and the really bad syfy channel ones like Swamp Shark and Ghost Shark. I fucking HATED Sharknado, fucking hack shit. Basically I loved sharks but all these movies of course never really showed respect for sharks. Dangerous Animals is the first ‘shark’ movie I’ve seen that respects these creatures for what they are and in the small horror they might contribute as awful accidents. I honestly adore the way this paints sharks, I adore how it also released near the 50th anniversary of Jaws; a movie famous for making sharks scarier to the public than ever before in a somewhat mystical terror like way. How the sharks are shown, the small glimmers of beauty and the destructive but mainly happenstance violence. That very violence feels purposeful and engaging. Jai Courtney walks a fine line of too insane and viciously entertaining. This movie really satisfied me and my love/fear for sharks :P

I laughed I smiled I laughed even more. The cast is dope and I like the weird shit Wes feeling crazy with to try in this. Felt like he was extremely comfortable just letting it rip here and that’s off putting for some but I like when Michael Cera does his dancy dance and smokes a cig. Bryan Cranston basketball scene easily an all timer for that old timer. Benecio is killer. I like the lil things and when the movie got a lot of lil things it adds up into one big thing that I like

They’re all fucking everybody’s fucking

Raw, unclean, tender, so fucking aggressively melancholy. Messy and unorganized but you wouldn’t change a thing. Royal Tenenbaums is such an unfiltered middle point for Wes Andersons increase in perfecting his style. The very roots of the underlying sadness that accompanies the brightest and warmest colors. I wanna fucking live in that house FUCK

Story within a story within a story within a story all putting images in your head about stories that you’re not seeing but still seeing just like the stories that’s being told to you in a gloriously funny and gorgeous way with little mini people and sick ass sets moved by people you never are supposed to see but see them over seeing the stories being told about seeing things

Fosters Home For Demented Kids

Following the Philippou brothers for a while with their YouTube days and seeing their success with Talk To Me, it’s amazing to notice their personality shine through and stand out in the horror scene. Yet this early in their cinematic careers something feels like it’s being held back. When they choose to be visceral and over the top that’s when their movies are standing above all, but it’s those quieter more personal moments that feel almost too muted even if presented in the most unsubtle light. Bring Her Back is a prime example of almost too much character, focusing on drawn out almost unnecessary repetitive family elements with highlights of eye clenching moments that make it all worth it. There’s talent here all around but it can make you feel like you’re running in circles (haha) just to reach the point you’re expecting. Shoutout the kid that plays Oliver you creepy ass mf

The first hour: “here’s what’s you missed on Glee” 

The following hours: HOW THE FUCK IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE THIS SHIT IS THE GREATEST ACTION SET PIECE IN THE HISTORY OF MAN NOT EVEN NATHAN DRAKE SURVIVING THIS SHIT

The dirty mud and oil that glows with impenetrable shimmer, the rotting hand that holds the glass deemed grateful to drink from, the snowballing capitalistic hellscape that darkens the plains. 

Fuck bro everything is just so gorgeous to look at. The oil burning sequence stands testament to spectacle while representing a never ending flow of story.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a chameleon in actor and character. I’m just astonished at the accomplishment on display here it’s almost too inhuman to be this talented.

Okay my friends forced me to watch this finally in a discord call so I played Civilization 6 on the main monitor. In my civ 6 game I played as Hungary and established a coastal city. Things were looking fine until I realized there was quite the amount of barbarian camps around my ancient era town. I tried not to panic but I got to work on producing warrior units immediately as defense. After researching a couple trees of science like mining, sailing, masonry, animal husbandry, etc; I eventually produced enough warriors and some builders to really start my game. I sent the warriors out to attack the barbarian encampments and met a city state nearby my civilization. They were very friendly with me and we established a great relationship. My warriors struggled against the barbarians and it seemed to be a stagnant battle for a lot of turns until finally I won against them. Soon things were looking up, I had scouts out in the world, builders making mines, warriors exploring for more barbarians; I was happy. But soon I realized the world was progressing much faster than me in my game, notifications of wonders being created rapidly popped up with every turn. It was soon that the scientist era was reaching its conclusion and I was being left in the dust, a dark age was upon me with my advancements not being up to par with everyone else on the map. This dark age was a scary title but honestly didn’t effect my game too much. Only then did I find out 10 turns later than I was behind military wise as well with barbarians reaching advancements far faster than I ever would’ve thought possible. They started appearing all over the map with horsemen, surrounding my city, clearly wanting blood. Luckily I built my ancient walls in time for their approach and was able to defend my city, but to my surprise their horseman were far stronger than I ever would’ve imagined. My warriors were too far out in the world, and my production was lacking for the amount of barbarians slaughtering those I attempted to fight back with. Soon the movie ended and I paused and exited the civ game, not knowing wether or not I would’ve survived this battle. Would my coastal city have made it despite the barbarian attack? Were there allies I could have made to help me in my struggle, u civilizations that I was ignoring? Would I have made it out of my dark age? I’ll never know

I’m almost pissed off how good this actually is. It really holds up. From great action with superhero team ups, great story, heist breakout mission, fun spy thriller, awesome time traveling epic, perfect sprinkle of nostalgia and closure. Everything is just so good

What’s there left to be said about a movie like Parasite. Rightfully celebrated as a true masterpiece, rewatching for the first time in IMAX since release only solidified it as such. 

This extremely fine tuned dance of opportunity and cunning; this commitment of showcasing class disparity in the most engaging way possible. Every moment is so perfectly crafted to keep a viewer wowed and entranced.

How far will this all go you keep asking yourself as layers and levels of struggle constantly unravel itself without a moment to breathe.

From visuals, to score, to performances, writing, settings, camerawork, direction I can’t find a flaw in absolutely ANY element.

I am very comfortable calling this one of the best films of our generation
