I have decided to go with a 4.5.
Haven’t watched anything in a bout a week so excited to start watching things again. First we got Anora.

Not going to score this yet because I’m so torn between a 4 and a low 4.5. Also, some of my thoughts you’re about to read aren’t finalized and are subject to change.

I’m not going to lie but I’m a bit disappointed. I still liked it a lot but I’m lower on it than most. I don’t think it’s a 5 star or revolutionary by any means. I thought the story meanders and felt aimless and redundant at points. Theres also a good chunk where it was just so repetitive. It starts off strong but where it kinda lost me was the overlong scenes of the men coming to the house and all of the scenes with Anora in the house. It just got so crazy and chaotic at points where I was just tuned out. I also didn’t think it was so funny, people in my theater were laughing a lot, not me. I thought a couple scenes were funny but never enough to win me over in of comedy.

Where it did win me over was the acting, characters, Anora, and the last 40 minutes. The acting was excellent by everyone, especially Mikey Madison, she was incredible. Her ability to go from sad to angry to happy was just incredible. Every character was very well done. The last 40 minutes, simply incredible. That’s what I’m talking about. That’s where the film elevated itself past a 3.5 and on to a 4 or maybe a 4.5. The ending was also outstanding and by far my favorite scene of the whole film.

Overall, anora was a very good film that for me, didn’t really sell me untill the last 45 minutes. Too little too late? Only time will tell, check back in a bit to see my OFFICAL SCORE.
