my introduction to David Lynch! this was very very cool technically but also pretty unsettling to watch. I was never bored though and talking about the ideas with my friends made me appreciate it a lot more!

honestly the more i think about this the more i kinda loved it. crazy fight choreo and a beautiful score and visuals. young Michelle Yeoh too! some weird twists and turns that feels kinda messy in a perfect way? i'll revisit this for sure!

WOW, this was insane. the complete mental breakdown and physical toll the case has on the detectives over the film is executed perfectly and is so harrowing. that ending is both brilliant and terrifying. also, the score stuck with me immediately - eerily beautiful and powerful.

lowkey? could be the best of the sequels upon rewatch. i find it veeeery interesting that star wars fans label this the worst, simply because luke skywalker isn't the young hero from the originals, and all the creative choices to do with the force. if you want a carbon copy of the original trilogy, just watch them! luke literally goes through a separate character arc and has a form of redemption. in no way does the film glamorise his actions, i do not understand how people don't see this as luke struggling with his mistakes.

but the strongest parts of this film are in rey and kylo ren's characterisation. they are at their most intricate and layered here, and the struggle of rey accepting that she is a nobody, paired with ben's internal conflict and not wanting to be controlled by anyone is actually perfect in my opinion. this is also visually one of the best star wars films.

it is way too long, however, and i do wish finn had more of a significant arc (but the 9th COULD have fixed this). but i respect the choices made with this, genuinely some of the most interesting themes in star wars are explored. unfortunately, still far off from the best in the saga.

i really loved a lot about this - the little hints dropped throughout which all comes together beautifully at the end! unfortunately, the best parts were sandwiched between maybe 15-20mins of screentime that i dont think was necessary

finn and rey are soooo likable and their dynamic in this is SOOO SOLID. SURELY this exciting momentum continues into the next two films!!!!

a black and asian duo is a necessity in life (completely unbiased opinion, @ letterboxd Abukk 😆😆)

it didn't take me long to be pulled into Caché's atmosphere. it is BEYOND impressive that this level of tension is achieved without a score! that *one* scene might be the most i have been physically startled in a cinema (well, a lecture hall), or simply in a film for quite some time. i can't fully explain why, but the way things crept up on me was so untraditional compared to what i have seen.

i love when films force you to uncover things yourself. this is my first Haneke film, and there was such an intriguing quality to the way this was directed that i'm keen to watch more! good stuff, certified film studies elective banger!

nothing to say that hasn't already been said ofc. mafia movies are not really my thing but this is technically perfect and im liking it better each time!

a cute watch, love the emotion that drives this forward

funniest dumb watch but also not dumb but super funny but were we laughing at the right moments idk.

there is also a cut in here that was genuinely the most funny random thing ive ever seen in cinemas, we were losing our minds for at least 5 minutes after that. youll know when it happens immediately LOL.

lil boo thang plays not once, but TWICE in this movie bruh im deaddddd, everyone needs to watch this in CINEMAS

definitely not a bad time, but nothing new is really added to middle earth. some huge cliches and kinda ehhh characters. animation is not bad but not really suited to the style of film (at least how they approached it). still enjoyable but i think that fully rides on tolkien's world and what peter jackson has already built.

its a classic and maybe jack black's best casting

a wilddd movie. technically amazing and shines in a lot of parts (performances are crazy), just doesnt grip me throughout as much as his others

dialogue is kinda peak at certain moments, fun watch
