“this is a game about winning the points that matter.”

rackets and dicks. don’t know if i’d call this the very best movie of the year so far, but i genuinely don’t know the last time i came out of a theater so amped and buzzing like this—i literally had to put my dolby recliner down for the final minutes of this movie so that i had the edge of a seat to sit on, and the final cut to black had me rocking back and forth so hard that i felt the seat come off the ground. forget walking and running, fucking sprint to this as fast as possible. for as relatively simple as this is narratively, it’s just so exhilarating to see a work where almost everyone involved is at the absolute top of their game and basically every single possible creative decision—every composition, camera movement, acting tick, edit, and especially every musical sting; seriously, just give reznor/ross the oscar now, the score in this hits like crack—feels so thoroughly considered and is so insanely well executed. i definitely like call me by your name and bones and all, but truly did not think guadagnino had something like this in him—on all levels, an incredible, (un)real, capital-fucking-M Movie. COME ON!
