While that may be the case at a thematic level, his distinctive visual storytelling is the constant throughout his filmography. And that’s a testament not just to his brilliant vision, but to the crew he surrounds himself with. He’s never been so right in saying that cinema is at its best with powerful imagery.

Rebecca Ferguson’s gentle ferocity. Austin Butler’s psychopathic fuckery. Léa Seydoux’s seductively conniving witchcraft. Javier Bardem’s shift from proud mentor to glazing worshipper. Dave Bautista’s vulnerable rage. 

You literally could not ask for a better ing cast. 

It’s so unfortunate 2024 Cinema has already peaked so early into the year.
