a different man is a smart and darkly hilarious exploration on identity, self-confidence, and how being othered impacts people’s lives. i also appreciated how meta it was when it came to commenting on disability representation. the graininess and coloring gave a timeless feel to this which i really loved, too. some of the dialogue and how it was delivered also added to this feeling like it was taking place in a completely different reality, in the way yorgos lanthimos movies tend to do. i keep thinking about the decision to go by the name “guy”, the way the mask looked, and how this movie grabbed my attention from the jump. some parts of the final act felt a little out of place and a bit rushed, but the cleverness of the script and performances by sebastian stan and adam pearson allow me to overlook the minor things that bothered me. i really liked this!!!!!
