Really well-acted by everyone (except Carell who's all over the place). A satire without many jokes or much to say about the class of people it's lampooning. Sterile and aimless. Visually and tonally evokes Armstrong's Succession, but it's a bad fit for the parts of the script that could work. All told, a slog and a mess.
Even if 2000's Wes still hits the hardest and goes down a smidge more easily i dont think i can ever feel negatively about newer Wes. Can't stop thinking about some of the colors on this one, a lot of the teal tint stuff goes hard.
Big laughs from me:
-the sudden switch to shaky cam during a certain fight
-a very specific Cera line delivery when mumbling about getting Liesl to drink

I'm going through a really hard time rn and everything is bad and sucks and for some reason the only thing I could think of to soothe me were the hunger games movies. There's no reason for this except that the hunger games are probably the most anxiety enducing scenario I could imagine and watching jennifer lawrence have ptsd episodes over killing kids for sport made me realize some things can in fact get worse
There is so much to unravel here, from the lack of a score to organically grow a romance, to the themes of womanhood and feminism depicted without an overly interfering political scope.

from the moment marianne and héloïse first laid eyes on each other, i honestly felt like an intruder… such intimacy between them and the heavy, unspoken yearning in all their lengthy gazes, it was almost tangible. incredible from noémie and adèle.
the resignation to knowing a love as deep as theirs had to be fleeting; mere ing ships. but it was one that didn’t waver even with years and years apart. i think that’s why i didn’t find the ending…
