"Hate me or love me, you watched. That's all you could do"—quote by bowling legend Pete Weber

Love it or hate it, this is a visual extravaganza. The outpouring of love and criticism has been wonderful to witness. Creating conversation among moviegoers of all stripes, I believe, is huge for cinema. Since the beginning of the MCU (well, sort of, Avatar counts), Dune has given people a whole new world to get engrossed in. My biggest critique for Dune 1 was that it felt like a set up story. The beggining of this movie also felt that way but good googly moogly it got juicy. That last 3rd was something else.

Watching the story unfold in my wayyy to close to IMAX screen was magical. The visuals and sound alone would make this a great film. Then you add in characters you love and hate, all converging at moments where you can't help but turn away. I feel like I could nitpick for convenient plot points, but I found myself forgiving those to keep staring at what was happening in front of me.

I haven't finished reading the books (because those thangs are long) but the themes in this book are crazy. Watching Paul Atredies battle and then give in to his "fate" as a messianic figure on a colonized world, was so immersive. I know some of what is about to happen in the story, but let me tell you, I'm not ready. This is my Star Wars.

Let me know what your character rankings are:

Performances ranked
1. Austin Butler - Feyd-Rautha-Harkonnen
2. Rebecca Ferguson - Lady Jessica
3. Timothee Chalamat - Paul Atredies
4. Zendaya - Chani
