Invented the timeloop trope as we know it.

Lord Farquaad is inspired by Prince Humperdinck.

Book loosely based off of Pride & Prejudice

Cactus Flower was remade as the inferior Just Go With It.

Both are based off of the play The Parfumerie, which also inspired the MGM musical In the Good Old Summertime and the Broadway musical She Loves Me. 

Plot inspired by a plot twist in Something Wild.

I Married a Witch inspired the Bewitched TV show. Bell, Book and Candle is also very similar. 

Teen Beach Movie satirized the teen beach comedy genre invented by Gidget.

Both romantic comedies feature chaotic couples falling in love again after cases of amnesia. 

Based off of The Taming of the Shrew. Other notable adaptations of The Taming of the Shrew include Woman of the Year and Moonlighting’s Atomic Shakespeare.

A gender bent adaptation of The Front Page. Switching Channels is a direct remake. 

Both films are fairytale deconstructions inspired by Tristan & Isolde, which also inspired Vertigo and Mulan/Aurora’s romance in Once Upon a Time.
