Watched only a few hours before Ryan O’Neal’s ing. Definitely one of the spookiest news notifications I’ve ever had, and that’s saying something. Spent over eight minutes in the video linked below gushing over this one, in particular it’s connections to the paintings of William Hogarth, both aesthetic and political, as well as it’s delightfully devilish sense of humour. A masterpiece for sure, but not something I reckon I could watch more than once a year.

As someone who is 1. British and 2. a huge fantasy fan, Harry Potter is such a bizarre franchise to me because it absolutely nails FEEL, there is such a specific and unique vibe to this whole world… yet put any of the plot or world building under the slightest of scrutiny and the whole thing kind of completely collapses into embarrassing mediocrity. still love Daniel Radcliffe though.

It’s obvious why There Will Be Blood was hailed as an instant classic upon release. It’s disgusting and depraved and darkly funny in a way only Kubrick could match. Also features maybe my favourite time-jump-cut in cinema (if you’ve seen the film you know the one).
