Witnessed in IMAX
“You are not prepared for what is to come.”
Finally seeing this was a religious experience for me. This is such an astonishing achievement in science fiction cinema, and filmmaking itself. There is a reason Denis has quickly climbed the ranks to one of the best filmmaking auteurs of all time, and that reason is perfectly displayed in Dune Part Two.
I still believe that Blade Runner 2049 is Villeneuve’s best work, but goddammit Dune Part Two is right on its ass in a very close second. This is also perhaps Hans Zimmer’s best work yet, only rival to his Interstellar and Blade Runner 2049 scores.
Expectedly, there are terrific performances all around, but Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha is easily the standout here. His gladiatorial/action-heavy scenes are obviously exhilarating, but his quiet, somber moments are where he really shines.
Please, go see this film on the biggest screen possible.
