Sean’s review published on Letterboxd:
A blockbuster film in every sense of the word, the scale and scope of this film is amazing. So many scenes left me in complete awe, from the worm-riding sequence to the final fight sequence - devoid of music.
Wonderfully paced, the action was incredible, both up-close and on a large scale, as well as the cinematography. The acting was well-done on all sides, but Chalamet and Zendaya did particularly well in my opinion.
The depth to this film was also astounding, ranging from religous, environmental, and political commentary. The world-building mirrored the thoroughness of the book, showcasing the Fremen culture especially in a wonderfully complex and thoughtful manner. These two Dune films may be Villeneuve's finest works. Though this film stood somewhat one its own, I am interested in seeing the two chapters back to back, and I'm so glad he helmed the adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel.
