World Premieres of unique perspectives and on-the-rise voices from around the world.

Named after Jia Zhang-ke’s groundbreaking second feature, our Platform programme, now in year 7, continues to shine a brighter light on some of the most original films at our Festival. Selected as the programme’s opening film is s O’Connor’s feature debut Emily. This year’s selection also includes two Canadian titles: Riceboy Sleeps and Viking.

The 10 films in the programme are eligible for the Platform Prize of $20,000 CAD given to the best film in the programme. This year’s winner is selected by our international jury composed of filmmakers Patricia Rozema, Iram Haq, and Chaitanya Tamhane.
