I haven’t seen a Broadway musical this well-produced on the big screen since the original Jon M. Chu and his crew put into making it all feel as close to the Broadway production via the set design, recording method, and casting choices for the leads is impressive.

Where the movie really shines is when the songs are performed, further enhanced by them being sung live rather than recorded in a studio. It’s no coincidence that the Wicked stage production is so successful globally, with how iconic each song is.

Where I found it lacking appeal is parts during which there is hardly any singing. Then again, I am a fan of musicals, so maybe for those who aren’t as much, that wouldn’t really be an issue.

Bravo to all involved! Part 2 should be good!
